What makes you fit for a Public Office?
I went through k-12, 2 years of College and 4 years at the University. All in Lethbridge.
I do not claim to be an expert on Education.
EXPERTS AS POLITICIANS ARE LESS LIKELY TO ENGAGE IN OPEN MINDED CONVERSATION WITH THE PEOPLE
What makes a good politician is one who is willing to engage in conversation with all sides. With an open mind. Recently there has been an increased number of voters feeling abandoned by their politicians because they have an opposing view. A good politician is willing to put themselves in both comfortable and uncomfortable situations in the name of listening and engaging.
I am completely comfortable in conversing with people who might disagree with me. Who might passionately hold a different viewpoint than me. I’m able to openly engage in open minded conversation without taking offense to what people say about me.
I sincerely value everyones perspective. Without an array of perspectives there wouldn’t be any perspective. We wouldn’t know any better.
Why are you running for School Board?
The 2021 Election will be my third time running for a spot on the board. I continue running for the same 2 reasons:
1. The board needs to be composed of parents of students of the time. I will have my own children in the district for another 5 years and nieces and nephews for another 20. I am passionate about Public Education and feel the need once again to be part of this process.
2. I am a Team Player who loves to be part of influential teams. I love coming together as a group and hashing decisions out. I’m a very effective communicator and I feel like my skills will heighten the synergy within the School Board
What will you Change when you’re on the Board?
1. Enhanced communication. Monthly video updates. Video Podcasts with guests to discuss issues. I will lead a movement to bring the school board communication to the parent of 2021
2. Synergize with board members. Synergize with teachers. Synergize with students. My ability to synergize with others will help the school board operate more open, honest, and as a team.
The slow change…I will bring my effective communication, my selfless work ethic, my creativity, my longing for learning, and I will give everything I have to help ensure the best possible learning experiences for all of the children.
How are you a Team Player?
I come from a family of 9. 7 children. 6 boys.
I am married and have 2 kids.
I play many sports. (see “About Dave”)
I was part of numerous singing groups and musical theatre productions
I participated in Scouts and Venturers
I run a business.
Within each of these I have demonstrated that I am a very team oriented person.
